What solid south?
What's sweet about this is that Dean get's it and the rest of the party hasn't caught on yet. Dean's ready to take the fight to Texas and the South. Jobs, jobs, jobs. Make it a mantra.
"...Indeed, Gore proved to be so competitive on Election Day that the television networks couldn't declare the winner in many southern states for hours after the polls closed. At the very least, Gore tied Florida, ended up winning forty-five percent of the vote in Virginia, Louisiana and Arkansas, and secured only slightly weaker finishes in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina. Only in George W. Bush's homestate of Texas did Gore pull under forty percent of the vote..."
Posted by fightingdem at August 30, 2003 6:27 PMThe main thing that is hurting the Democrats at this juncture is "the control of the media" -- CNN and FOX -- by Republicans. Susan Malveaux and Wolf Blitzer might as well be on the payroll of the Republican White House the way they sit out and regurgitate misinformation supplied by Bush operatives...
The Democratic Party must move beyond the Confederate flag and reach out to all Americans in need of jobs and education. The Republican Party is fooling the American people. Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld made commitment to large corporations prior to the invasion of Iraq. They will deliver even at the expense of American children in need of a quality education. Do not let confederate symbols solidify the South as it did during the Dixiecrat era. Address common problems and issues. Once solved, race and class will take on new dimensions. A decent standard of living, homeland security, and jobs will transcend many of the issues that divide us.
